Solar panel: 1.2V x 550 mA : 0.500 Watts (TS0628) Solar panel encapsulated monocrystalline units, designed for educational uses. New ( July 2009) lightweight panels 12 -13 grams each including lead wires. Also refer to the Solar Boat starter kit TS0402 containing these panels, a solar motor and propeller assembley. OR Solar Boat component kit TS0402L which contains a single large panel plus propeller assembly, and solar motor. Solar Boat panel. Solar Car Panel (TS0629)
The Model Solar Boat competition for most Australian States allows boats for the 'wire guided' competition to be powered by a combination of panels or a single panel based on commercially available silicon photovoltaic cells. the photovoltaic cells only, and does not including encapsulation around the edges and between cells. Solar cells do not have positve bouyancy and should be firmly secured to the hull of the boat. (Hook and Loop self adhesive fastening are a lightweight and satifactory fastening method, particularly if panels are to be shared between teams.) The solar Panel TS0629 may be configured to suit conditions and or motors as it comes suppied with two sets of integral leads. For suggestions on configuring solar cells consult the Victorian Model Solar website for well ilustrated and easily understood instructions. http://www.eng.monash.edu/solar/regulations/Boat Model Solar Vehicle competitions as held in most Australian States allows the following. Commercially available solar cells either as a single unit or made up from various panels. Once constructed the Solar Array must be fully removable from the vehicle. While there is a pysical limited to the vehicle which in turn limits the area that may be covered by solar panels, the Solar Array may not exceed a power rating of 12 watts. Refer to the full regulations at http://www.eng.monash.edu/non-cms/solar/regulations/Car NEW ITEM September 2007 The solar Panel TS0629 may be configured to suit conditions and or motors as it comes suppied with two sets of integral leads. Two such panel would be required for the Model Solar Vehicle competition. Solar Boats; refer also to: Solar Boat starter kit TS0402 containing 4 small panels, a solar motor and propeller assembley. OR Solar Boat component kit TS0402L which contains a single large panel plus propeller assembley, and solar motor.
