Both hot and low melt adhesive glue guns extrude melted adhesive that may cause a burn if it contacts the skin.
While adequate instruction on the care and use of glue guns is essential, most classroom situations involving young student users, warrant the added precaution of wearing gloves.
Such use avoids inadvertent contact with adhesive and hot sections of the glue guns. It should be remembered that young children have a lower threshold and more sensitive skin than adults.
